As we all are keeping cozy indoors sometimes we forget there can be so much to do outside in the winter! Bundle up in your coats, hats, and mittens and check out some of these great festivals in the Detroit area. There is fun for the whole family from an Ice bar for the adults to an ice playground for kids. Try something new this season!

2023 Plymouth Ice Festival

February 3rd-5th, Plymouth

Come check out the ice sculptures spread throughout the city center! There will be ice festival BINGO with great prizes. Also check out the Hot Spot heated area under the city pavilion for local vendors, product demonstrations, and a sitting area. Then take your photo on the Ice Throne as well as visit The Ice Bar for drinks and live entertainment. The kids will love the ice playground and petting zoo as well as the feature movie “Frozen” and the local Penn Theater.

2023 Berkley WinterFest

February 4th, Berkley

Join the city of Berkley at their community center on Saturday, February 4th from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. for ice skating! Once the whole family has skated their hearts out, go on a relaxing walk to see the ice sculptures and visit some furry friends at the petting farm! If the kids still have energy left, there are also going to be bouncers available for them to play. 

Winter Blast

February 17th-19th, Royal Oak

Head to Royal Oak for this FREE winter festival! There is going to be fun for the entire family including free ice skating, an ice sculpture garden, and lots of other activities. You will be able to try out a new sport with curling, zip lining, axe throwing, a tubing snow slide, or try skiing & snowboarding with Mt. Brighton’s learn to ski and snowboard experience! After all that activity, fuel up with the food truck rally and s’mores and relax with some live music and crafts and presentations from the Michigan Science Center in the family tent!

New Baltimore Lions Winterfest

February 23rd-26th, New Baltimore

This four-day festival kicks off with a ladies’ night on February 23rd featuring a raffle and live music! Friday the 24th continues the fun with social corn hole and a hilarious stein hoisting competition. Return Saturday the 25th with the whole family for games, coloring contests, laser tag, and a fishing tournament! Last but not least, watch or participate in the Polar Plunge on the 26th!
