EASTERN MARKET

Starting in November, Eastern Market is kicking off its holiday markets as the season transforms. On November 3rd, experience the All Things Detroit Holiday Shopping Experience & Food Truck Rally. With over 200 vendors, starting your holiday shopping has never been easier. Find unique gifts, enjoy live music and art exhibits, take photos with Santa, and top it off with lunch from one of the many attending food trucks. Beat the Crowd tickets are available for $10, with doors opening at 10 a.m. Alternatively, General Admission is available at the doors opening at noon for $5, and kids 6 and under are free. On the 26th, Eastern Market is bringing back its Holiday Markets, great for Thanksgiving food shopping in Shed 3 and Michigan-made products on Sundays in December in Sheds 3 – 5. Entry is free for the holiday markets, and Christmas trees become available seven days a week starting around Thanksgiving. These are great ways to support local businesses while getting your holiday shopping done in a festive, lively setting.
FOX THEATRE

The Fox Theatre will be hosting beloved holiday musicals throughout the month of November. From the 6th through the 10th, catch a showing of Elf The Musical, or A Charlie Brown Christmas: Live on Stage for one night only on November 24th. Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical will continue the holiday spirit with shows from November 27th through December 1st. These classic tales come to life with colorful sets, whimsical costumes, and catchy songs for all ages. They are a great family-friendly event to get into the holiday spirit while enjoying one of Detroit’s most iconic theaters.
MOTOR CITY COMIC CON

For fans of comics, pop culture, and cosplay, Motor City Comic Con returns to the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi from November 8th through the 10th. This convention brings together celebrity guests, comic book creators, and fans for a weekend of panels, signings, and shopping for all things pop culture. Whether you’re a seasoned Comic Con attendee or a newcomer, this event offers something for everyone, from anime screenings and cosplay contests to chances to meet your favorite stars.
BAR PIGALLE

For one night only, Bar Pigalle is hosting a five-course wine dinner. The restaurant is known for serving ‘playfully modern French fare’ and is set to do just that taking inspiration from the Alsace region of France. The dinner is set to start with a Langoustine Crudo, with fleischnacka, lemon oil, and Nantua sauce. Next, there is the Choucroute, served with weisswurst, leek kraut, and pommes Anna potatoes, followed by Chartreuse of Mushroom, with cabbage, wild mushrooms, and Foie Gras. The Coq au Riesling follows, with squab, cippolini onions, and chestnut mushrooms. To conclude the meal, indulge in the Ginger Gâteau, with burnt toffee and cardamom ice cream. Located in a downtown Ferndale parking structure, the Ferndale Underground Holiday Market is kicking off its third year with a weekend of shopping opportunities. Taking place November 16th and 17th, you can shop around vendor booths in the basement of the DOT. “The market has similarities with other holiday markets in that we include art, makers, bakers, and more. The difference is that we look for things that are a bit unusual, which includes the venue,” according to market producer Mark Loeb. “Our goal is to encourage people to choose one-of-a-kind gifts for their loved ones.” Another specialty? Younger artists! “Mint Artists Guild offers art gifts by Detroit teens and the Creative Kids’ Market has a variety of young artists selling their work.” The perfect opportunity to get some early holiday shopping done, the Underground Market will feature art and specialty items for every recipient on your list. You can expect to find crocheted creations, conversation pieces, paintings, jewelry, and more. This market is happening along with Ferndale’s Jingle and Mingle weekend celebrations with music, art making, and more, all in downtown Ferndale.
DETROIT TREE LIGHTING

One of Detroit’s most anticipated holiday traditions, the 21st Annual Detroit Tree Lighting will take place in Campus Martius Park on November 22nd. This spectacular event draws thousands of people to downtown Detroit each year to watch the Michigan-grown tree light up. According to event organizers, you can expect an evening “filled with star-studded talent and fun.” For entertainment, there will be local and national musical performances, skating performances by top talent from Metro Detroit and beyond, and a special visit from Santa. Food truck favorites from Downtown Street Eats will also be in attendance, allowing you to grab a bite to eat and enjoy the festivities and holiday cheer. It’s the perfect way to kick off the holiday season and enjoy the vibrant energy of Detroit’s winter wonderland. With all of the excitement scheduled for the downtown area, it’s a great tradition to partake in.
