Coffee and Cocktails in Metro Detroit

If I had to wager, coffee and cocktails probably rank fairly high on people’s lists of favorite beverages. Coffee is the perfect morning pick-me-up and cocktails are a great way to wind down at the end of the day. Whatever you’re in the mood for, these Metro Detroit establishments feature drinks both caffeinated and alcoholic; sometimes both. Check them out below!

Detroit Fleat

Local food truck park Detroit Fleat has a great selection of boozy drinks to pair with any meal from one of their stationed food trucks. In fact, they have two coffee cocktails on their menu: “The Classic” and “Salted Caramel.” The Classic is made with Pilar dark rum, Amaro Pazzo coffee, boozy whipped cream, cinnamon, and sugar; while Salted Caramel is a combination of CopperMuse black caramel vodka, Jackson Morgan salted caramel liqueur, coffee, boozy whipped cream, and a caramel drizzle. The Salted Caramel seems to be the more decadent of the two, so the only question is, are you bitter or are you sweet?

The Skip

With a mix of indoor and outdoor space, The Skip is a Detroit bar with a casual atmosphere. Check out their frozen drinks for an Irish coffee made with Old Forester whiskey, cream, sugar, and cold brew concentrate. With cold brew taking the place of traditionally brewed iced coffee for a lot of coffee drinkers’ warm weather go-to, this cocktail is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

The Congregation

Since opening in March of this year, The Congregation has been serving coffee, pastries, beer, wine and cocktails to patrons in the church building turned coffee shop. Whether you’re in the mood for a simple drip coffee or satisfying moscow mule, you can find the staff of The Congregation slinging drinks Tuesday-Sunday.

The Ferndale Project

Having launched the Wing It delivery service, the folks over at The Ferndale Project (AKA Eastern Market Brewing), have a long list of canned craft beer and whole bean coffee you can have delivered to your location (within a 15-mile radius of Ferndale). I want to turn your attention to the white coffee stout that blends ASHE Supply Co.’s Ethiopian coffee and cocoa for a flavor profile akin to a white chocolate mocha. You can order individual 16 oz. cans or a 4-pack.

Remember to drink responsibly and plan ahead with a designated driver or take advantage of one of these local designated driving services.
