Brunch is more than just a meal; it’s an experience, especially when paired with the perfect boozy beverage. In Metro Detroit, a variety of favorite brunch go-to’s offer creative and refreshing drinks to elevate your brunch beverage game. Here’s a guide to some of the best spots for brunch beverages in the area…
VIVIO’S
2460 Market Street, Detroit
3601 Twelve Mile Road, Warren
From soccer practice to grocery runs, the Chevy Trailblazer is designed to make your everyday outings a breeze.
Vivio’s is a must-visit for Bloody Mary enthusiasts. While you won’t find your typical sweet brunch offerings, Vivio’s opens around lunchtime and the bar is ready for all of your Bloody Mary desires. The signature is famous for its robust flavor and comes with a pickle spear, lime, and a beer chaser as do the rest of the Bloodys. Other extreme choices are more loaded, like the Shrimp Cocktail, with horseradish vodka, a shrimp skewer, and a smoked paprika sea salt rim, the Famous Loaded, made with thick-cut bacon, spicy asparagus spears, and prosciutto-stuffed olives, as well as the 8 Mile Stretch, which features Better Made chips and Srodek’s hunter sausage, which are all available at the Eastern Market location. In Warren, you can find the Famous Loaded, along with the Morning After, featuring a hard-boiled egg, thick-cut bacon, and a Red Bull chaser. Pair any of these with a hearty burger and satisfyingly start your day.
MI.MOSA
23360 Farmington Road, Farmington
As the name suggests, MI.Mosa is all about mimosas. With a menu featuring fresh and local Michigan products, MI.Mosa has an excellent variety when it comes to its breakfast menu. As for its mimosas, there is quite a variety flavor-wise for this brunch beverage. Options include strawberry kiwi, cranberry lemonade, watermelon, peach, rose-infused, and even lavender and glitter mimosas. Can’t decide on just one flavor? Check out the flight of four available. Pair your flight with French toast, breakfast tacos, and short rib Benedict, or look into lunch choices like the Italian focaccia sandwich or the Michigan salad. This cozy spot and extensive drink menu make MI.Mosa a top choice for brunch lovers.
DIME STORE
719 Griswold Street, Detroit
Dime Store is an all-day breakfast, brunch, and lunch hotspot offering inventive dishes and an impressive drink menu. Owner/Operator Ann-Marie Murphy highlights their standouts: “…We’re known for our more creative dishes like the Duck Bop Hash and the Cheesesteak Benny. To complement a menu made nearly entirely in-house, we offer a full bar with craft beer, wine, and classic cocktails. Guest favorites include our Bloody Mary, Peach Mimosa, and Orange Creamsicle, made with Detroit’s own Faygo Orange Pop.” Other delicious options include sangria, Irish coffee with Bailey’s and Irish whiskey, espresso martinis, and Lafayette lemonade with fresh mint and vodka.
FIREBIRD TAVERN
4845 Rochester Road, Troy
Firebird Tavern’s Troy location has an excellent weekend brunch available. Beyond the Peachy Keen and Morning Scramble pizzas and the brunch charcuterie boards, the ‘Day Drinkers’ menu keeps things simple for the brunch beverages. You’ll find espresso martinis, mimosas with juices ranging from OJ to guava and pineapple, along with Lemon Aperol Spritzes and Bloody Marys with vodkas infused with spicy garlic or bacon. Any of these options are perfect to accompany the chicken biscuit, bananas foster waffle, or steak and eggs.
RH HOUSE
2630 Crooks Road, Rochester Hills
For a lively brunch experience, RH House delivers. For boozy brunch beverages, the peach bellini, RH Bloody Mary, Wake Up Call, and Boozy Bubbles with vodka, prosecco, elderberry, and lemon stand out. These go great when ordered with the berries and cream pain perdu (French toast), the Protein Packer omelet, the Florentine Benedict, and the avocado and jalapeño toast. For more lunch-inspired options, the Maurice salad and Cuban sandwiches are go-tos. Tony, a RH House team member, shares, “RH House offers up contemporary American cuisine with a high-energy setting to elevate the dining experience, including an outside patio and handcrafted cocktail menu. This concept serves as the perfect dining destination for any occasion, day or night.”
TOAST
203 Pierce Street, Birmingham
23144 Woodward Avenue, Ferndale
Toast offers a quirky and welcoming atmosphere perfect for a laid-back brunch. Their beverage menu is both extensive and inventive, featuring unique delights at both locations. In Ferndale, you’ll find my favorite peach bellini, aptly named the Toast Bellini, with orange vodka, peach, and orange juice, along with other specials like the crème brulé martini, Garden Mary with cucumber-infused vodka, and the Blackberry Ramble with gin, raspberry liquor, and soda. In Birmingham, you can order a Mango Mary, with green chile vodka, hot sauce, mango, and lime, or the Blackberry Fuego with jalapeño-infused tequila, blackberry simple syrup, and Tajin. These drinks pair beautifully with their eclectic brunch dishes, like bacon fried rice and cheesecake waffles, making Toast a go-to for those seeking an excellent brunch experience.
CAFÉ MUSE
418 South Washington Avenue, Royal Oak
Café Muse in Royal Oak combines elevated dishes with an equally interesting drink menu. Its brunch beverages include mimosas, pear, peach, and mango bellinis, ginger beer mimosas, and Bloody Marys. Other specialty drinks include the Blumosa, which features sparkling wine, orange juice, housemade blueberry syrup, and lavender, and the raspberry vanilla lemonade with fresh fruit and vanilla vodka. Pair these with a sweet stuffed French toast with mascarpone and spiced pears and ricotta and lemon pancakes, or the more savory smoked salmon scramble and grilled three-cheese sandwich.
