It’s the best time of the year once again: outdoor and rooftop bar season in Metro Detroit! We all know Michigan summers are short and fleeting so we have to make the absolute best of the time that we are given. Whether you’re heading out for happy hour or after-dinner drinks, these are some of the best bars in Metro Detroit to grab a cocktail with friends and enjoy the incredible outdoor ambiance.

The Skip

The Skip is located in The Belt and is known for their outdoor bar area. They serve fun frozen drinks like Cucumber Margaritas and French 75 which is perfect for a hot summer day or night. They also have a great list of tropical drinks and craft beers. The Skip is known to host events in the evenings throughout the summer. Previous events have included Tiki Thursdays and Sunday Funday as well as local DJs performing at the bar.

Monarch Club

The Monarch Club is located in the penthouse of the Metropolitan Building where you’re surrounded by the skyscrapers of the Detroit city skyline. The bar is a sleek combination of old-school glamor and new-age comfort. Features a retractable roof and a fire pit, which makes the Monarch Club the perfect place for any evening. Their extensive cocktail list is familiar yet imaginative and incredibly well done.

3Fifty Terrace

3Fifty Terrace is Detroit’s premier rooftop nightclub for VIP events and table service. Located on the rooftop of the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts, the 10,000 square feet of open air rooftop features an expansive bar, 28 VIP booth sections, and a DJ soundbooth. The nightclub has regular events throughout the week like The Weekend Warmup every Thursday and Sunset Fridays. Guests will enjoy the 360 degree views of Downtown including Comerica Park and the Fox Theatre.

Good Times on the Ave

Good Times on the Ave is in the heart of Detroit’s Avenue of Fashion. They have a full-service bar and a menu that screams Southern Creole. Their rooftop seating is intimate but perfect on a summer day or evening with your nearest and dearest. As an added bonus, they serve brunch on Sundays.

Lumen Detroit

Lumen Detroit has one of the largest outdoor patios in the city. The seating is right next to Beacon Park and is surrounded by the Detroit city skyline. Since the patio at Lumen is so popular, your seating is limited to two hours, but that’s more than plenty of time to enjoy one of their delicious craft cocktails or a bite to eat.
