We’ve been having quite a streak of hot days in Metro Detroit these last few weeks. Couple that with the humidity and you’ll be clamoring to find ways to stay cool that don’t involve sitting in the (hopefully) air-conditioned house all day.

Believe it or not, you can leave your house during this intense heat and stay cool at the same time as there are plenty of things to do to beat the heat in Metro Detroit. Just take a look at some of the places we’ve written about so far.

First and foremost, waterparks and beaches are the most obvious way to cool off on a hot day. There’s plenty of waterparks to check in Metro Detroit, some of which offer season passes so you can go as much as you want. That is actually a good idea to look into, considering how many days of 90+-degree weather we’ve been having.

If you’re a dog owner and don’t want them missing out on the fun, check out these dog-friendly beaches. Or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, find out where you can rent a boat, kayak, jet ski and more. Just don’t forget to shop for a great swimsuit before you go!

After hitting the waterparks and beaches, you might be looking for a cold treat to keep things chill. Ice cream is the quintessential summer treat and these spots have some of the best scoops around. Not to mention, they’re vegan-friendly, too!

If you’re looking for a more “adult” treat, cold, boozy beverages are the perfect remedy. From frozen margaritas to boozy popsicles, these fruity treats are sure to satisfy your tastebuds.

So, how do you stay cool on a hot day? Sure, you could spend your day inside watching TV, but I think you’ll have a heck of a lot more fun outside. Invite a few friends, slide down a waterslide, splash each other at the beach and cool off with a cold treat. Long story short: Metro Detroit knows how to stay cool.
