Eggs Benedict, a luxurious and classic brunch dish, has captured the hearts of food lovers everywhere. Eggs Benedict is typically a combination of poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, and Canadian bacon, served atop a toasted English muffin. In Metro Detroit, this beloved breakfast staple has been reimagined by a variety of innovative eateries, each adding its unique flair with different flavor profiles. If you haven’t had Eggs Benedict yet or are looking for a new place to try it out, give one of these spots a chance…

DIME STORE

Located downtown, Dime Store is a brunch lover’s paradise. This all-day brunch spot has some delicious options to choose from, and the Eggs Benedict choices are no exception. All of the bennies on the menu are served on an English muffin with poached eggs and a house-made hollandaise, but the flavor profiles of each stand out. There’s the cheesesteak Benny with shaved ribeye, locally grown mushrooms, onion, and American cheese, the cold-smoked salmon Benny with chime cream cheese, onion, arugula, and capers, and the veggie Benny with mushrooms, roasted Roma tomato, spinach, and avocado. You can also get the classic version that comes with Marrow Detroit ham. The Eggs Benedict at Dime Store are also served with a choice of fresh fruit, a side salad, or house breakfast potatoes

TOAST

23144 Woodward Avenue, Ferndale

203 Pierce Street, Birmingham

Toast, nestled in Birmingham and Ferndale, offers a fun, homestyle take on Eggs Benedict. Their version stays true to parts of the classic recipe but elevates it with the freshest ingredients. Each order comes with home fries, bacon fried rice, or an upgraded side, and the poached eggs can be on an English muffin or a biscuit. The closest to a classic Eggs Benedict is the Toast Benny, with bacon or ham, spinach, tomato, and herbs. The Nova Scotia version has smoked salmon, spinach, tomato, dill, and balsamic drizzle. Finally, the Mexi Benny is made with spicy hollandaise, smashed avocado, chorizo sausage, tomato, and herbs. Toast’s warm, inviting atmosphere complements the dish, making each bite feel like a comforting hug.

CORK & GABEL

2415 Michigan Avenue, Detroit

At Cork & Gabel, the menu takes on a new life with a fusion of Irish, Italian, and German flavors. This unique eatery in Corktown melds cuisines beautifully. As for its Eggs Benedict, the unique fusions are daring and delicious. For example, the braised lamb Benny has caramelized onions, grilled tomato, and tzatziki over the English muffin. The C&G sausage version features a house-made sausage patty, roasted red pepper, and pickled red onions, along with the poached egg and hollandaise. Imagine poached eggs atop salmon cakes with spiced remoulade and fried potato garnish. That’s what you get with the salmon cake Eggs Benedict. The VooDoo choice has an English muffin topped with chorizo, cheddar cheese, guacamole, and salsa verde, and the pesto Benny has mozzarella cheese, house-made pesto, sautéed spinach, and tomato. The menu does vary slightly depending on if you go on the weekend or not, but there are still Eggs Benedict choices.

ROCHESTER BRUNCH HOUSE
