Every so often the craving hits for a really great steak. You’re not necessarily feeling like going out to a high-end, traditional steakhouse. And maybe the rest of your party is craving something entirely different. Luckily there are plenty of spots all around Metro Detroit serving up delicious steaks on their menu and doing it really well. Here are the top spots to try the steak that won’t leave you disappointed…

Caucus Club

150 West Congress, Detroit

Founded in 1952, the Caucus Club was the sister restaurant to the famed Detroit steakhouse, London Chop House. After a complete renovation and reopening its doors in 2017, Caucus Club is back and committed to serving with excellence. Their steaks are dry-aged in a Himalayan salt room for 18 or 30 days depending on the cut. There are plenty of options for enhancing your steak with sauces and add-ons, but you’ll likely find the steak stands alone in its glory.

Churchill’s Bistro Cigar Bar

19271 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods

Just from the name alone, Churchill’s Bistro Cigar Bar might not strike you as a place to get a great steak. But once you step inside and take a look at their menu, it’s clear they have a handle on serving a great cut of meat. They dry age all of their beef for 41 days in their own Himalayan salt room. They cook the steaks to perfection and serve them with your choice of Béarnaise, whiskey peppercorn, or zip sauce. And in case you were curious, yes, you can also get cigars and men’s accessories at Churchill’s as well.

La Bistecca Italian Grille

39405 Plymouth Road, Plymouth

If you’re searching for a crowd-pleaser, you have to check out La Bistecca Italian Grille in Plymouth. They are award-winning and well-known in the area for high-quality food and excellent service. What makes La Bistecca unique is that all of their steaks are USDA Certified Piedmontese Beef, which is a leaner beef that is lower in fat and cholesterol without sacrificing flavor. All of their steaks are cooked to order and served with their famous vintage sauce, which is delicious on just about everything.

Marrow

8044 Kercheval, Detroit

Marrow is a hybrid of a butcher shop and farm-to-fork restaurant. Their founder, Ping Ho, was inspired by her grandmother creating wonderful and lasting relationships with the meat and vegetable vendors at her local market. While Marrow’s menu is always changing due to what’s available and in season, you’re pretty much guaranteed to have at least one steak option. They also are unique in that they offer a tasting menu, where you select items from each category to create an entire experience.

Toasted Oak

27790 Novi Road, Novi
A farm-to-table restaurant, Toasted Oak in Novi is a fusion of American and French cuisines using only the freshest ingredients. In the warmer months, you can see the items they grow for the restaurant in the garden boxes outside by the patio. The menu is always seasonally inspired by flavors and ingredients most common during the time of year. There’s always a steak on the menu accompanied by the perfect sides that make you feel comforted and elegant at the same time.
