Sweetest Day Date Ideas

Even if it slipped your mind, Sweetest Day is this Saturday, October 19. While the day is not as celebrated as Valentine’s Day, it’s still a good reason to remind that special someone how much you mean to them. Chocolates or a fine dinner is nice and all, but why not try shaking it up with a special concert, film, or even a dance party? Here are some fun events taking place on Sweetest Day to help you celebrate.

Sweetest Day Love Jam: Maze ft. Frankie Beverly

Add some Soul to your Sweetest Day with R&B group Maze featuring Franie Beverly and special guest Joe. The musicians will perform at the Fox Theater beginning at 8 p.m. Maze released nine Gold certified albums from 1977 to 1993 with hits such as “Happy Feelin’s,” “While I’m Alone,” “Golden Time of Day,” and “Southern Girl.” The Love Day Jam performance will also include an appearance from seven-time Grammy nominee Joe, who has worked with artists such as Mariah Carrey and G-Unit.

Sweetest Day Vegas Dinner Show

From soccer practice to grocery runs, the Chevy Trailblazer is designed to make your everyday outings a breeze.

The Santia Banquet Center in Keego Harbor will host its Sweetest Day Vegas Dinner Show this Saturday starting at 6:30 p.m. The show will feature a 10 piece band playing hits from Neil Diamond, an Elvis Presley impersonator, comedy, dancing and more fun. Tickets are $50 per person, with special group options available on the event’s Event Brite page.

Boogie Fever Saturdays

If you’re looking for some good throwback jams and wild styles, check out the latest Boogie Fever Saturday beginning at 8 p.m. on Saturday. The totally tubular party includes the best music from a bygone era and guests are encouraged to wear their raddest outfits. Admission is $5 and the event takes place every Saturday through the end of the year.

Sweetest Day Screams at Wicked Woods of Terror

We showed you where you can get the best scares in Metro Detroit but the Wicked Woods of Terror is hosting a special Sweetest Day Screams event this Friday and Saturday night. There are four haunted attractions to choose from between a haunted trail, a blackout maze, escape room, and zombie brain smash. It’s the perfect excuse to stay close to that special someone, and with combo deals allowing you to experience all of the haunted attractions, it won’t break the bank.

Horror Matinee Double Feature at the Redford Theatre

Similar to haunted attractions, Metro Detroit has plenty of horror screenings in October that make for great date ideas. The Redford Theatre in Detroit will be hosting a double feature of “The Black Cat” and “The Mummy” starting at 2 p.m. Tickets to the two classic horror movies are $5 and you can find other upcoming screenings on the theatre’s website.
