Brunch around Metro Detroit does not have to revolve around pancakes, French toast, or anything dusted with powdered sugar. For diners who would rather start the day with eggs, seafood, or something tucked into warm bread, these local menus offer plenty to build a meal around.
300 Hamilton Row, Birmingham
Commonwealth’s daytime menu in downtown Birmingham gives savory brunch a bright, café-style direction, with choices like the Brussels Sprouts Omelette, built with a honey balsamic glaze, romano cheese, and roasted pine nuts, and the Wagyu + Eggs, keep things hearty with fingerling potatoes and blistered shishito peppers. The Mediterranean Quiche adds another lighter option, while plates like the Crispy Bacon Fried Rice or Lemon Tahini Farro Bowl help round out a table for diners who are arriving closer to midday than morning. Coffee is part of the rhythm here, but the more filling egg and potato dishes are what make it work for anyone skipping the pancakes.

340 South Main Street, Plymouth
The Sardine Room brings seafood into brunch with plates like Wild Coastal Shrimp and Grits, Lobster Avocado Toast, and Crab Cake Benedict, giving the Plymouth spot a savory pull for diners who prefer hollandaise, shellfish, and grits to syrup. Oysters can also set the tone for a slower weekend meal, especially alongside egg dishes, Hippy Hash (loaded with veggies), Breakfast Fries, and brunch cocktails. The menu’s coastal lean makes it easy to order brunch as more of a seafood lunch, while still keeping the comfort of eggs and breakfast sides on the table.
3919 Woodward Avenue, Detroit
The Block’s weekend brunch menu leans into hearty plates with a comfort-food backbone, including Shrimp and cheddar jalapeño Grits with Bacon, Short Rib Skillets, and Salmon Breakfast plates. Chicken and Waffle Sliders appear for those who still want a brunch classic, but the more savory route runs through seafood, grits, burgers, and breakfast potatoes that feel built for a lingering weekend meal. Add a brunch cocktail like the Watermelon Mint Mimosa or a side of scrambled eggs for the table, and the meal stays grounded in bold, satisfying flavors.

Supergeil’s Sunday brunch in Corktown moves through Eastern European, Mediterranean, and North African influences, and the savory options reflect just that. The Khachapuri brings Georgian cheese-filled bread together with eggs for a rich, shareable centerpiece, while Shakshuka layers eggs into a spiced tomato and pepper base. The menu also includes Breakfast Döner, Smoked Salmon Crepes, and Lutenitza, a roasted pepper spread that adds a bright yet savory note to the table. Rachel Kret, Maître d’ & Events Coordinator, shares, “One of my favorite things about our brunch menu is that it gives people a chance to try something a little different.” Executive Chef & Partner Brendan McCall adds, “At the end of the day, I just want to serve food that people are excited to eat and even more excited to come back for.” Whether you’re stopping in for the Eggplant Fries and Fried Fish Benedict or the Sausage and Peppers Khachapuri with Lemon Dill Potatoes, Supergeil hits savory brunch out of the park.

13621 West 11 Mile Road, Oak Park
Oak Parker’s weekend brunch menu gives potatoes, eggs, and deli-style richness plenty of room. The OP Latke Plate pairs crisp potato latkes with sunny-side eggs, while the Breakfast Sandwich stacks a smashburger with caramelized onions, bacon, and an over-medium egg. The Sunny-Side Pastrami Hash is another deeply savory choice, especially with the OP Bloody Mary alongside it. For something more composed, the ‘Yes Chef’ Omelette folds in Boursin and chives, homemade potato chips, and is served with a mixed green salad.
719 Griswold Street, Detroit
Dime Store’s daily downtown brunch menu is especially suited to diners looking for loaded potatoes, poached eggs, and housemade sauces. Owner/Operator Ann-Marie Murphy shares, “While our menu has a variety of options to choose from, we’re known for our more creative dishes like the Duck Bop Hash (breakfast potatoes tossed with house-confit duck leg, Korean bbq sauce, spinach, and onion, and topped with over easy eggs, house-pickled veggies, and Sriracha) and the Cheesesteak Benny (shaved ribeye, onion, crimini mushroom and American cheese topped with poached eggs and housemade hollandaise on an English muffin). Our seasonal Chef’s specials are also great options and change regularly, so there’s always something new to try. To complement a menu made nearly entirely in-house, we offer a full bar with craft beer, wine, and classic cocktails. Guest favorites include our Bloody Mary, Peach Mimosa, and Orange Creamsicle, made with Detroit’s own Faygo Orange Pop.” Beyond those signatures, the menu also includes other savory brunch staples such as biscuits and gravy, Bacon Avo Omelettes, and Housemade Sausage Hash that fit neatly with a Bloody Mary or signature cocktail.

For anyone passing on the sweet side of brunch, Metro Detroit offers a strong lineup of dishes built around eggs, potatoes, cheese, and spice. Khachapuri, pastrami hash, shrimp and grits, and seafood Benedicts all make the case for planning brunch around savory flavors from the first bite.
