Located in Ferndale since 2013, Little Lotus is run by Heather Rae, a yoga instructor, meditation coach, and energy and body worker. She holds regular meditation classes at her studio, individually programmed to tackle common struggles faced by people every day. They include stress & anxiety, lack of sleep, overcoming obstacles, how to relax, and creating your own personal sanctuary. Meditative sessions can be done privately or in groups.
Founded in 1990 by Abbot Hwalson Sunim, Detroit Zen Center is a meditation training center for monks and lay students, studying Zen Buddhism. The Center also hosts group meditation sessions that are open to the public. The sessions are free with a suggested donation of $10-$20. “First Sundays” meditation also includes interactive exploration and discussion and concludes with an organic, vegan brunch.
